Queer Eye – Season 2 Announcement

Breaking News – Queer Eye is returning June 2018, can you believe? Netflix has announced that the acclaimed television show will return for its second season on June 15th, just two months after it was announced the show would be renewed, and four months after the first series was available to stream.

Crucially, The Fab Five: Antoni Porowski (Food & Wine), Bobby Berk (Interior Design), Karamo Brown (Culture), Jonathan Van Ness (Grooming) and Tan France (Fashion) are all set to return in the second season. Specifically, the Fab Five will return to Georgia, making over the lives, looks and homes of a variety of individuals throughout the US state. To be exact, the official press release for the upcoming episodes state that, ‘this season, Queer Eye Fab Five return to the Georgia heartland, forging connections with communities from a wide array of backgrounds and beliefs often contrary to their own, touching on everything from self-love and faith, to immigration and how to make the perfect homemade poke bowls and more!’ It therefore seems that Netflix is serving us more of what we loved about the original season, and with one hand, is providing uplifting messages of empowerment, while with the other, generally useful life-hacks and meme-able moments. However, Queer Eye has become a phenomena not because of a faithfulness to the original ‘Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’ or because of a shallow take on personal style and interior design. Rather, Queer Eye is really about transformations, about connections, and about a freedom to be vulnerable. It can be said that it is someone’s vulnerability that makes them endearing. Queer Eye, unlike other makeover shows, does not lead by the example of steely and elitist fashionistas, but grants both the Fab Five and its ‘heroes’ the opportunity to be both raw and candid alike. Truly, as the Fab Five help others connect to those around them, we, as an audience feel our connection to the show grow.

In such regard, we truly expect Queer Eye season 2 to be as moving and tear jerking as the latter. All episodes are available to stream on Netflix on June 15th.
